The Galway One World Centre

The Galway One World Centre,(GOWC) is a development eductation centre "It's vision is to work towards creating an inclusive society where power and resources are justly shared where people live with dignity, freedom and self-determination."

Human beings have a profound need to belong, to feel connected to this world but racism by its nature works against mutuality and respect for our differences. This musical project will be set up not only to look and name our differences but celebrate our differences.
The GOWC recognizes that people need their story heard and their culture respected and recognized if we ! are to have an intercultural community in Galway.

AIM
To recognise, celebrate and promote the diversity in our community. To address the barriers that ger in the way of treating every human being as unique and deserning of respect.

Target Groups:
People from different cultural background including Black Irish, White Irish African/Asian, and European.

Time Scale:
There will be two musical sessions a week at three hours a session.
Project duration will be one year
Commences in September 2006

Ojectives:
To bring together people from different backgrounds to create a musical performance based on their own story.

To organize an anti-racism awareness training for the participants to understand, examine and challenge racism together.

To create an arts performance which is available to the Galway community.
